You are planning an awesome and well-deserved holiday or getaway after a long work year. Everything is ready, you have your backpack on and you are excited about the great deal on a hostel that you found on the internet. But when you get there the hostel does not seem to be what was offered on the net.
Sounds familiar? It is not uncommon for people to choose the hostel they will stay on based on their prices. People always go for the best hostels deals; that is a fact. But there are many factors that have to be taken into account when selecting a hostel deal to avoid being disappointed.
Most hostels deals offer a great price because they do not have much else to offer. Hostels bedrooms are shared by several people, and that is a price that most people are willing to pay in order to pay less per night. But these bedrooms, in many cases, are not small… they are tiny.
They have no room for your backpacks, which are usually of a considerable size, and you will not have one night of sound sleep, because you will feel uncomfortable. You will not even be able to breathe comfortably in these tiny rooms.
The same thing happens with the bathrooms. Since the bathroom has to be shared, most people expect that they will be large, comfortable and convenient. However, in many cases they are so tiny that people have to use it sideways to be able to fit in.
Sometimes you will find a great hostel deal, the place will be idyllically beautiful and comfortable, but when you get there you will find that the hostel is located far away from downtown and the touristic attractions. You will need to take a taxi cab each time you need to go downtown or visit a touristic location.
In these cases you end up spending more money than expected only on the taxi cab fare. Also, talking about spending more money than expected, many hostels offer great deals on their prices, but when you get there you find that you have to pay an extra fee for breakfast.
Some of these cheap hostels do not even offer half board and that can be really inconvenient, especially if you are not located near downtown. Now, if they do offer half board what turns out to be a disappointment, many times, is the hostel’s restaurant.
In addition, sometimes you will find a great hostel deal, the place will be nice, but the service will be terrible, and the employees will be very rude. Something like this can certainly put you in a bad mood, and even ruin your holiday. The looks of the hostel can also put you off.
Many cheap hostels will look poor and shabby. As well as that, many times their walls are so thin that you will be able to hear everything that is going on in the next room, and you will be awoken by those annoying noises. Some hostels do not offer hot water at all times, and their cleaning is not very thorough.
So if you are going to take a hostel deal you need to be sure you know where you are going, what services are offered and in which state the hostel is. Getting as much information as possible about the place you are going to stay in is a great way of avoiding disappointment; though the best way is having no expectations at all.
